Air Filtration Systems

Filtration your blower can actually breathe through

Real whole-home filtration is a balance: catch the fine stuff without strangling airflow. We design filter setups that clean the air and keep the system healthy at the same time.

The 2L way

What honest air filtration services looks like

There’s a quiet conflict inside every filtration decision: the filters that catch fine particles also resist airflow, and residential blowers have limited pull. Jam a dense MERV 13 into a return designed for a builder-grade throwaway and you’ve traded dust for a strained blower, a freezing coil, and capacity loss. The fix isn’t settling for bad filtration, it’s engineering the setup so density and airflow both win.

That usually means surface area: a four-or-five-inch media cabinet at the air handler filters at high MERV while breathing easier than any one-inch filter can, and it only needs changing twice a year. Where allergies or health needs push further, properly-supported HEPA bypass setups and electronic air cleaners extend the range. We measure your system’s static pressure first, then build the filtration to fit inside what it can support.

How the visit goes

Start with the actual problem

Air quality work starts with your symptoms, dust, allergies, smells, humidity, and an honest look at their sources. The goal is a diagnosis, not a product demo.

Fixes ranked by impact

You get the fix list in payback order, filtration, sealing, humidity, purification, with plain talk about which options are proven and which are marketing. You choose where to stop.

Installed to work, verified

Whatever gets installed is matched to your system’s airflow, mounted correctly, and verified doing its job. Then it goes on the maintenance schedule so the protection stays real year after year.

Air quality is the wild west of HVAC, full of glowing gadgets and miracle claims. 2L’s approach is boring on purpose: measure the problem, apply the proven physics, skip the placebo hardware, and tell you plainly what each option will and won’t do.

Static pressure measurement is the honest first step every time. It tells us what your duct system can support before anyone picks a filter, and sometimes it reveals that a cheap return-air enlargement unlocks far better filtration than any premium filter could deliver through a starved return. Engineering first, product second.

Scope of work

Filtration setups we build

  • Four-and-five-inch media cabinets
  • High-MERV upgrades matched to static pressure
  • HEPA bypass systems for medical-grade needs
  • Electronic air cleaners
  • Return-air corrections that enable better filtration
  • Twice-yearly media schedules that stick

Air quality in North Texas homes fights a two-front war: some of the country’s roughest pollen seasons outside, and houses sealed tight against the heat for most of the year inside. That combination concentrates whatever gets in and whatever gets generated indoors, which is why measured, layered fixes outperform any single gadget in this climate.

If cost timing is the worry, Synchrony financing lets you approve the work now and pay over time, and you’ll get the same honest quote either way. Regular plan maintenance is the cheaper habit that keeps emergencies rare in the first place.
Good to know

Questions homeowners actually ask

Straight answers, the same ones you’d get on the phone. If yours isn’t here, call and ask.

What’s wrong with the one-inch filters from the hardware store?

Nothing, at the job they’re sized for: basic dust protection on an easy-breathing return. The trouble starts when high-MERV density gets packed into that same inch. If you want serious filtration, the answer is more surface area, not a denser inch.

Is MERV 13 worth it?

The filtration is real, catching fine particles that matter for allergies and smoke. Whether your system can breathe through it depends on duct design and blower, which we measure rather than guess. In a media cabinet, MERV 13 is usually comfortable. In a one-inch slot, often not.

What about HEPA for my home?

True HEPA can’t sit in the main airstream of a residential system, the resistance is too high. Bypass HEPA units filter a portion of air continuously and suit immune-compromised or severe-allergy households. We’ll tell you honestly whether your situation justifies it.

How often does a media cabinet filter get changed?

Twice a year in typical North Texas conditions, once if the home is gentle on filters. Compare that to monthly one-inch changes and the cabinet pays for itself in both performance and hassle.

Can better filtration reduce how often I dust?

Noticeably, once bypass leaks are handled too. Filtration plus sealed returns means the air passing your furniture carries less to drop on it. Households usually see the difference within a couple of weeks.
