Timing matters more in this trade than most people expect. Spring is the honest window for cooling work, before the first triple-digit week exposes every marginal capacitor and low charge in the county at once. Fall belongs to heat: combustion checks, heat exchanger inspections, and the repairs that are cheap in October and miserable in January. If the calendar lets you choose, choose the shoulder season, and if it does not, the emergency line answers either way.

Builders move on schedules and we respect that: rough-in when framing is ready, trim-out after drywall, commissioning before close. We also perform pre-warranty-expiration inspections on newer homes, because catching a builder-grade shortcut inside the warranty window is worth real money to the owner.

When should HVAC design happen in a new build?
At the plan stage, before framing. Duct routing decided after the framing exists is compromise stacked on compromise, and it’s the source of half the comfort complaints we see in newer houses.
What is a room-by-room load calculation?
It computes each room’s actual heating and cooling need from its windows, orientation, insulation, and volume, then sizes ducts to deliver exactly that. It’s the difference between a house that’s even everywhere and one with a hot upstairs forever.
Do two-story Texas homes need zoning?
Most benefit enormously. Heat rises and Texas sun is serious, so a single-zone two-story almost always compromises one floor. Zoning or a two-system design fixes it permanently, and the build stage is the cheap moment to do it.
Can you add HVAC to my addition or shop?
Yes. Sometimes the main system can be extended, often a dedicated mini-split or small system is smarter, and we’ll tell you honestly which physics favors. Guessing wrong is how additions end up as the room nobody uses in August.
What’s a pre-warranty-expiration inspection?
A full system inspection before your builder’s warranty runs out, documenting anything installed wrong or failing early while it’s still the builder’s bill. Cheap insurance on the biggest mechanical system in the house.
